Autumn is officially upon us and as many prepare to update their new season wardrobe the manicure obsessed among us are far more concerned with rejuvenating our nails with opulent Autumn/Winter tones!

This season sees a change of pace as we wave goodbye to the radiant hues of Summer and opt for far more muted shades of nude, super dark and metal.

Take a look at our guide to the best trends for Autumn/Winter ’14 and nail these new season styles.

Noble Nudes

A trend typically associated with summer, this season introduces a fresh take on nudes. Seen on the Autumn/Winter ’14 catwalks of Temperley, Issa and Elie Saab this trend is a great alternative for those not quite ready to delve in to the more somber tones of autumn just yet. As a rule, those with pale skin should opt for a whitish nude with a beige tint whilst medium skin tones should look for more apricot based hues and darker skin tones often suit brown beige shades.

70’s Revival

Decade lead trends have infused the catwalks season after season and this autumn/winter we see the return of those classic 1970’s shades donning the nails of those in the know. As seen on the catwalk for House of Holland, burnt orange, purples and rusts with a hint of fuchsia will dominate.

Heavy Metals

Metallic shades are always a favourite for autumn/winter but this season sees the trend reimagined as a focus on muddy bronze tones and opulent glitter takes lead. As seen on the catwalks of Libertine and Rodarte this trend is not one we want to miss out on. Hand over the nail polish!

Dark Times Ahead

Forget the pretty, glowing shades of Summer the hottest colours this season are deep, dark and moody. Typically autumnal but never obsolete, the return of mossy greens, deep rusty reds and midnight sky navy blues are the go-to colours for anyone looking to be on trend this autumn/winter. As seen on the catwalks of Burberry, and Julien Macdonald, classic wintry coloursare going nowhere
