Product Description

This 60-minute installment of TV's {#Bell Science Series} was originally telecast in color on January 26, 1959. {$Dr. Frank Baxter} plays {%Dr. Linguistics}, who finds himself in a Wonderland of voluntary ignorance. {%The Mad Hatter} ({$Hans Conried}) and his conspirators have hatched a scheme to blow up the alphabet and get rid of all languages. Little {%Judy} ({$Cheryl Callaway}), who dreamed up this scenario while doing her homework, turns to {%Dr. Linguistics} for help. In immensely entertaining fashion, the films combines live action (directed by {$Richard Salkin}) and animation (courtesy {$Friz Freleng}) to show how languages developed and to point on their importance to the overall scheme of things. Guest stars include linguist {$Dr. Hans Karath}, Indian lore specialist {$Reginald Laubin}, and jazz musician Shorty Rogers. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
